Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

Winter has finally come and gone. I’m so sad to see the Lunar Chronicles come to a close because its quickly become one of my favorite series. But I have to say, Winter was the perfect ending to the series.

After reading both Cress and Fairest right before Winter was published, I was scared that I was going to be burned out. I have a serious fear of series burn out, so I try to avoid binge reading a series. But that didn’t happen this time. I was just so desperate to find out how everything would end and I just kept devouring the story. I had no clue to how it would end or if any of them would survive the wrath of Levana! Levana is just one of those foes who seem to be invincible because she’s so ruthless. She has become one of my favorite villains. I love to hate her. I highly recommend reading Fairest if you haven’t already. It’ll show you how corrupt and messed up she is. Be sure to check out of review of it here to learn more about it!

Lots of things happened in this book and I needed time to process it. In fact, there are still things that I can’t wrap my mind around. So I’m going to mention a few things that I loved and a few dislikes so I don’t ramble on forever. I also want to avoid spoilers because I saw a lot of people upset about spoilers being posted online. Quite honestly, this might be just one of those books you have to read for yourself to truly understand whats going on.

So this isn’t the master list of things that I liked. I liked IT ALL. We could be here for days if I listed everything I liked. All the romance! There were parts that made me swoon, parts where I felt heartbroken, parts where I just wanted to yell at them and kiss already. If you’re a person who has read the previous books and really liked the romances, you will not be disappointed! Another thing that didn’t disappoint me was the plot itself. I had no idea where the story was going and I really enjoyed this aspect. It kept me on my toes with its jaw dropping action. I really felt like I was on a journey with all the characters because the time they didn’t know what was happening and only knew that their goal of ending Levana’s tyranny needed to happen.

But on the other side of that, there were parts that I felt were a bit slow. It didn’t help that this book was over 800 pages long. When you first pick up the book, it doesn’t look that long. But the pages are SUPER THIN. I wasn’t a fan of this because 1) I thought I was going to rip the pages and 2)I felt like I was going nowhere. I think thats why it took me as long as it did for me to read this. Also, I might have been in a bit of a book slump. I was hooked into this book, believe me, but too many factors prevented me from just devouring this in one sitting. Another thing that I also didn’t like was the fact that a twist was ruined for me because I read Fairest before Winter. I felt like it should have been a shock, but since I already knew, it was anticlimactic. These were small nitpicky things on my end and didn’t really prevent me from absolutely loving this book.

Like I said, I’m really sad to see this series come to an end but I don’t have to say goodbye quite yet since Marissa Meyer is releasing a novella collection called Stars Above, which includes an epilogue to Winter and features a wedding! (Internally screaming!!!) This series is really high on my all time favorites list. If you haven’t read them yet, go and get them all. Now! You won’t be disappointed!
