April Wrap Up/ May TBR

Hello! Its been a long time since I last blogged here, but its only because I’ve been so busy! I moved into a new home and the whole month I’ve been spending time setting it all up. Things haven’t completed settled, but they have slowed down a bit. I do hope to get a few reviews up for some books that I read in March.

April Wrap Up.

I read a whopping one book in April. I started plenty others, but I just wasn’t in the mood for most of them. They were fantastic books and I do hope to pick them back up in the future, but I wanted to give them the full attention that they deserve. So for now, they’ll be put on hold. The one book I did read was A Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I was mostly motivated to read it because I was attending Laini Taylor’s book signing for Strange the Dreamer. I throughly enjoyed DOSAB, and hopefully I can get a review of it up in the near future.

But besides reading, I did attend a few signings and had a lot of fun! I was able to attend a signing for Nicole Castroman and Tricia Levenseller, Renee Ahdieh and a slew of other authors, and one for Colleen Oakes and Brianna Shrum alongside the Laini Taylor signing. I love signings, and hopefully a few more will pop up in Denver soon.

May TBR.

Since I only finished one book in April, I’m hoping that I can get a lot done in May. I really miss reading, and now I have the perfect patio to do lots of reading with the warm weather coming up. (Although, it might still snow here.) I’m going to be really ambitious this month and really push myself to get some reading done.

Currently Reading.

Lets start off with the books that I’m currently reading. Currently, I’m reading Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi. I wasn’t the biggest fan of her Shatter Me series, but I thought I would give her middle grade book a try. Also, I really love the cover of this one!

I’m also currently reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I’m really hooked into this story. I got interested in it because of the tv show, staring Ricky Whittle, aka Lincoln from The 100. Its really good so far. Its got this weird mystic realism to it, but it all comes off as totally believable.

To Be Read.

This is the part where I’m going to be really ambitious. I really do hope that I read at least a couple of these (mostly because I have deadlines where I NEED to read them) if not all of them. I really want to knock my TBR out of the park this month.

I’m really excited for Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han. I loved both of the first two books in the series, and I’m really hoping that Lara Jean gets her happy ending. Its one of my favorite series because it features a biracial Asian-American like myself, and I can relate to a lot in the book.

Jennifer E. Smith is one of my all-time favorite authors, and thanks to a fantastic best friend (Hi Paige!!) I have a copy to add to my collection. This one sounds really interesting and I can’t wait to dive into it.

I’ve never read anything by Emily Henry (even though I own The Love that Split the World) but I really love this cover. I’m buddy reading this, and I can’t wait to see what our thoughts are. Expect a review of this around pub day, which is the 16th.

These two are my most anticipated reads. I have a copy of The Gauntlet from the library waiting for me on my bedside table. I was really intrigued by this book because 1) its a diverse book, and 2) because its inspired by Jumanji. I really loved that movie growing up, and even owned the board game.

And last but not least, Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh! I’m really excited about this book, and its my most anticipated release of May. (There are lots of fantastic books releasing in May that you should check out like When Dimple Met Rishi, The Names They Gave Us, etc.) I really loved The Wrath and the Dawn and The Rose and the Dagger. I was able to meet her a few weeks ago, and I loved chatting with her!

So what books are you planning on reading this month? Any books you think I should add to my TBR? Let me know in the comments or shoot me a tweet on Twitter!
